TEXAS - Samsung/Radio Shack 500 -- 4/8/02

A Monday Texas race - the Poler is Awesome Bill,
He led for a while - then Rudd passed him at will.
At lap 35 - a "check-your-tires" yellow flew,
Then DJ took over - but there's debris found in two.

One hundred laps down brings a hurried pit set,
It's 4 fresh ones - and all the fuel they can get.
Another long green run brings 'em back to the pit,
But yellow's in the air 'cause Ward takes a hard hit!

After the clean-up caution - up front again DJ,
Several are laps down as we pass the ½ way.
Going back to green and Jr. smashes his rear,
Again DJ leads - coming up through the gears.

Buckshot in the way - Rusty got a run,
Passed DJ with ease - now he's number one.
Pit cycles starting - several machines out of gas,
All drivers now doing the pit stop pass.

Several got lucky - and stayed out longer,
Cuz Robbie brought yellow - now he's a goner.
Scary restart - in-front guys at the tail-end,
Another quick yellow - got smoke from Newman.

With 80 to go - coming in are the lead machines,
Matt Kenseth now top-dawg - again it's waving green.
A bottle neck restart - several bang and tap,
Then another long run - before Busch gets bitch-slapped.

Jimmy throws green - it's the 17 and 24,
They pull away - but now Martin's at Jeff's door.
Holding them off - it's the 2nd win for Matt,
And Jeff Gordon finished 2nd - imagine that!
