RICHMOND, VA Pontiac Excitement 400 5/4-5/5/02

Ward got pole for Richmond at night,
A blur of colors shine under the lights.
First caution flying - Renfrow is slow,
Raindrops again falling brings 2nd yellow.

All cars in the pits - the flag now red,
We'll go racing again after we go to bed.
Day 2 is sunny as DJ takes green,
But there goes Mikey then Hamilton's machine.

Mikey with a flat - goes to his pit hole,
As yellow again flies for Elliot's pole.
Ward goes to point - then he pulls away,
Then Jr. tags the wall - 4th caution does sway.

Ward slowed up - several got laps back,
Rudd is out first - as we go green on the track!
DJ spins and picks up Bobby Labonte too,
Everyone tries to check up as caution 5 flew.

Going back to racing - Rudd is still on top,
Now 6th caution flying for Busch's wall bop.
No one had time to even go in,
But a quick # 7 for Kimmel and pit stops begin.

Blaney out first - new leader of the race,
Rusty's right rear goes down - slowing the pace.
He creates a mess - trying to transition,
Ward's in the garage - broke his transmission.

Spencer the leader as the restart flag flies,
Bumping and banging - moves have to be wise!
Kyle now spinning - but stays on the lead lap,
But another quick yellow closes the gaps!

Leader still Spencer - then Rudd shoots to #1,
Rusty takes out Rudd & also smacking is the 31.
Red flag stoppage - the track is a total mess,
So for at Richmond - water has been a pest!

Spencer and Johnson tangle - Johnson got a raw deal,
After a quick yellow - again we hear tires squeal!!
A big pile-up - lots of sheet metal was crunched,
Green again in air - now they're tight in a bunch!

Newman and Stewart lead - until another spinner,
Some got real lucky - because of Shrader and Skinner!
Stewart the leader - then caution 14 is in air,
With about 20 to go - he holds 'em off with flare!
