POCONO, PN 500 6/9/02

Starting by points - Sterling got the pole for Pocono,
He gets a great jump - but then it's Jeff's Rainbow!
First yellow flies - Nemechek takes a hard lick,
Leaders go in - the crews gotta do their tricks!

Team Petty already in - good for John, bad for Kyle,
John made it out first - then took lead for awhile.
But here comes Craven and the rookie Newman too,
Newman broke away - but then his engine went to poo!

Jarrett takes over - but now all drivers need fuel,
Second yellow in air cuz of the Newman/Busch duel.
Again leaders go in - will they take 2 or get 4?
Great stop by Kenseth and the crew of Dewalt Ford!

Awesome Bill takes over - as the green flag falls,
Problems for Kenseth - he's going behind the wall.
Elliot pulls ahead and leads past ½ way,
But looming in his mirror the truck of DJ.

Caution 3 is waving - Andretti spun round,
A good pit cycle here will gain all cars ground!
Green again in air - back on top is DJ's 88,
But he falls to 2nd - passed by his teammate.

Rudd takes command and then stays on top,
All are trying to make it on only one more stop.
Locking up the rear - Jeff Gordon pit spins,
Johnson set the pit pace and now all are heading in.

Rudd still leading - came all the way from the back,
Then caution 4 is flying - debris on the track.
Pace car in - Jeff Burton leads the train,
Taking only fuel gave him the big gain!

But back to lead is Rudd - teammate on his rear,
Tried to open a lead - but DJ is drawing near!
Coming to the end - space is getting lean,
Tire problems for Rudd gives checkered to DJ's machine!
