CHICAGOLAND, IL TROPICANA 400 7/14/02

Rookie Newman snagged the pole for Chicagoland,
Green flag falls - on the throttle they stand.
Only a few laps in - Ward goes round,
His debris causes # 2 - some are pit bound.

Newman leads 'em to green - and pulls away,
Then Junior takes over - 'til green pits are underway.
During pits - Mikey and Terry spin through the grass,
Mark Martin new leader - OH! He's out of gas!

Stewart takes over - and opens a huge lead,
But he's out of gas too - because of his greed!
Jarrett new leader - then he too heads in,
A long green run brings hurried pits again.

Mikey blew his engine - sits on the wall,
3rd yellow waving - most answer pit road's call.
After a long clean up - Junior sits on top,
Robby makes a great save giving the wall a bop.

No yellow out - pulling away is Jr.'s number 8,
Debris brings yellow - it's a flurry to pits gate!
Kenseth leads to green - but Jr. quickly takes over,
5th caution then flies - Saddler's a land rover!

At green Rudd's mad - didn't get his lap back,
Then Harvick's below the line - wrecks all over the track!
6th caution flying - he caused several to wreck too,
Rusty jumped Junior as the restart green flew.

No penalty imposed - they all take the green,
Up front goes Newman in his Alltel machine.
Stewart catches up - right as Newman gets a flat,
Nemechek problems too - takes a wall splat.

Several go in - they can't make it on fuel,
Restart now brings a Harvick - Jeff Gordon duel.
Pulling away - no one can catch the 29,
Harvick first 2002 win - taking checkered at the line.
