Due to the attacks - Loudon became the last race,
Field starts by point then - so Jeff Gordon they'll chase.
Jimmy throws green and Jeff leads a few,
But coming is Harvick and the Yates team too.

Bumping and banging - some drivers get blunt,
First yellow flying - Mikey's blown a right front.
Everyone wants a tire look - so they all head in,
Gordon was out first - leads until the yellow again.

Jeff back off - for the NASCAR yellow mandate,
Tried to let Kyle by - but Sterling wouldn't wait!
Back under green - again they're following the rainbow,
But at lap 95 it's another NASCAR mandated yellow.

All took on fresh ones - again out first the 24,
Long time under yellow - had to bring out the blower.
Poor Ward's engine gone - he sends up smoke puffs,
Then it's a Buckshot yellow - some teams take on scuffs.

Herman was the culprit - who gave Buckshot the tap,
Restart at ½ way - and again Gordon opens the gap!
Team Gibbs 2 and 3 - 'til Andretti puts 6th in air,
Leaders want tires and gas and head to their lairs.

Jeff Gordon still on point - and he's pulling away,
But Bobby caught up - when Jeff had to stray.
Just that little lift let Labonte go on by,
That let Robbie catch up and both Gordon's fly!

7th caution now waving - Craven's in the wall,
Those who haven't pitted - now answer pit's call.
Several only too 2 - that put Sterling on top,
But was stuck in the pack - cuz some didn't stop.

Sterling tried hard - but both Gordons pass,
Jeff again takes lead - Robbie chose the wrong path.
Robbie got under Jeff - as he checked up,
He went on to win the race, but Jeff got the cup!!!

* Jeff Gordon led over ¾ of the race
* Robbie was the 19th different winner in 2001
* He was also the 5th driver this year to win his first NWC race
