As starting green fell - Casey puts 'em in a stack.
Caution 2 comes quickly - for a spinning Buckshot,
Got 'bout 50 down - 'til 3rd caution brings pit stops.

Spencer is the culprit - as he's into the wall,
Leaders all pit - then Bill Elliot leads 'em all.
Back to green - Busch goes flying through the grass,
Barely a few down then Ward and Todd Bodine crash.

Restart green flies - Rusty leads in his Miller Lite,
But again a quick caution as Stacy's 92 took flight!
Rusty leads through a long green - it starts brining 'em in,
Eighth caution then waves - oil spewing from Elliot's engine.

Leaders all come down - Oh! Some only took 2,
Rusty kept the lead as the crossed flags flew!
Benson then blew up - thick smoke in the air,
Pits are now busy - will it be 2, 4, or nare?

Nadeau took just gas - he leads 'em to the line,
Then a turn 4 mess causes caution number 9.
Jerry takes restart - Rusty and Jeff Gordon are on his rear,
Rusty now back up front - but Jeff is drawing near!

Another yellow flies - Junior takes a hard slam,
Stacked double wide in restart - brings a big traffic jam!
Kenseth gave a scare - when his right front went down!
Cars all scattered wildly as they came around,

Rudd takes the lead - but Martin, then Gordon go by,
Then Jarrett and Labonte tap - to make 12th yellow fly.
Jeff Gordon takes lead and restart - with only 12 to go,
But pole-sitter Leffler slams and Jimmy throws yellow.

NASCAR shows red flag - they're stopped in a pile,
Now with less than 10 to go - they'll start single file.
It's Gordon and Rudd running nose to tail,
Jeff wins another inaugural as under the checkered he sails!
