Rookie Kurt Busch poled the Lady in Black,
Jeff Gordon by his side as green fell on the track.
Jeremy took over through a long green run,
Then Mikey and Hornaday spin for caution one.

Back to green - Jeff Gordon sits on top,
The Rainbow Warriors had an awesome pit stop!
Junior tapped Hut - to bring slow down # 2,
All leaders head in for a cold sip of Mt. Dew!

Great pit for Busch - he's again in the lead,
Led for awhile - 'til DJ took the Darlington deed.
It's caution # 3 - Blaney again smacks the wall,
Cars need tires and gas so through the pits they haul!

Gordon out first - as the restart green flies,
Some going 3 wide - Hey, here that's not wise!
As green rolls on - taking over the lead is DJ,
Then 4th caution waves - at almost ½ way.

Saddler tags the wall - then knocks Pressley 'round,
Jeff again out front - but DJ is gaining ground!
DJ took over - then Junior tapped on poor Stacy,
And as restart flies again - Gordon gets racey!

Tires are chewed - cause trouble for Harvick and Busch,
The lady's concrete curves - are giving quite a push!
Green flag pit cycle - again up front is the 24,
Jeff leads a long green - 'til the yellow does soar.

DJ, Busch, and Kenny Wallace's cars are now lame,
There are always victims at "Too tough to tame!"
Restart green waves - passing Jeff is Mayfield,
Ward too in the picture - then 7th caution they yield.

Drivers pit stop - now all can get to the end,
Ward takes restart - first is his to defend!
Another yellow flies - Saddler blows a left rear,
Leaders all come in - hearing rain could be near.

Gordon again out front -
diving in is the pace car,
Labonte, Ward, and Jeremy pass -
right as Pressley hits hard!

Back to green
and it's two different wrecks in a row,
Race red flagged - then thru a wreck
Ward took checkered and yellow!
